about

This is a song about the feelings and thoughts during a depressive episode, and the inner monologue of a person who is trying to describe what depression feels like. Mental health is a subject that has always been taboo, and I felt this was a way to help people who don’t suffer from issues like this better understand how heavy and helpless it can feel, even through moments of joy.

lyrics

She never eats
Never sleeps
Never walls
herself in

Never cries
Never sighs
Never minds
letting it cave in

Always late
Never straight
Supervised minds
in the think tank

I'm fine, I'm fine
I'm fine, I'm fine

She never calls
Never falls
Never lets
the air in

Never fails
Never sails
Never pays
to get in

Never smiles
or reconciles
Never thinks
to check in

I'm fine, I'm fine
I'm fine, I'm fine

She never drives
Never sides
Never tells
her secrets

Never pries
Replies
Never patterns
in sequence

Absentee employee
Never stocks cards
in the staffroom

I'm fine, I'm fine
I'm fine, I'm fine

(Never gonna be fine)
